what a fab weekend, it may have rained and quite a few of us ended up spending Friday night pushing cars out of the mud but it just added to a wonderful time. It makes no difference about the weather, it's the people that make it so great. What a wonderful regiment we have and I'm Peep Peep proud to be a part of it. We had a great weekend and spent alot of time planning for next season as well as having fun with this one.
The party on Sat night was great, thanks Jackie, you did a good job again.

BBC were filming to show how people's attitudes to the seventeenth century would be reflected in the political stance they take today through customs and traditions passed down.
Lovely muster apart from the beer tent which went on till three in the morning with loud amplified noise and an all night street party (quite different from our lovely Rivers do) just outside Living History.(Please note feelings with reference to the tavern proposal which is generally a good idea)
Well deserved medals to those who were awarded them. Well done to everybody else who did not get one but put in some hard work.

yay it was a good one. I enjoyed my time in the fine dining kitchen as Bartholomew on sat and sunday, slowly learning tyh art of of 17th c cooking. The battles though were hard and the pike did well especially on the sunday. Congrats to Jenny, Terry, Tash and Sam for their awards and it was good for the regiment to be recognised for our efforts at Newbury. Looking foward to the next event maybe Stow but definitly Edge hill

There is some good commentary by an independant photographer if you click on the link in the following: You might already have come across this bit of positive feedback about the event as a whole from a MOP visiting her first SK event: lindsaydobsonphotography.com/blog/?p=3555 "And so the combination of a fascinating era in English history, and being a photographer, led me to attend the re-enactment of an English Civil War battle at Loseley Park in Surrey, with the added bonus of a later battle being beautifully recreated from the Georgian era by the wonderful Napoleonic contingent. I’ve never been to an event like this before, and I have to say that I had an absolutely fantastic day. I didn’t know what to expect, so I thought there would be a couple of hundred people “lightly” enacting the battles. I could not have been more wrong. Instead, I saw several thousand highly trained and authentically dressed folk from all walks of life and all parts of the country coming together to recreate the period with an attention to detail that had to be seen to be believed. The different units and regiments were faithfully recreated as was the battle camp, foods, drinks, and accoutrements that one would have seen during those times. No detail was spared, and the array of weaponry was astounding. The battles were faithfully replicated, down to the drumming and chanting which would have accompanied the troops as they faced their enemy, and all too often their own deaths. The spectacle was beyond impressive, both entertaining and historically fascinating....The participants remain very much in character, using the language characteristic of the day, as well as adhering to the social conventions befitting their station and rank." If you scroll down past the lengthy "ECW history lesson" there are some lovely photographs capturing highlights, including two of Sunday's formal dining - I just love the one with the outstretched hand - and one of Jackie's fabulous hairstyle. Lots of great pictures of the battle and other arena displays too. Well done all round

Just recovering from Loseley...
Great weekend, despite the rain and mud.
Our attendance was NOTICED - particularly on Sunday when we had 12 in Pike, 10 in shot plus water carriers (plus all those on the LH and cameos). We now have the Regimental photo on the Beardsworth site to prove how large we are...
Fistly, thank-you all those who, like an army of ants, cheerfully carried our stuff from the car to the camping area and helped put up our tent in the dark and mud on Friday night.
And WELL DONE to...
... Jackie and John for organising the Saturday night party ... Paul for bring up the kit tent and party tent, plus all the spare kit for recruits plus the pikes ... those of you who participated ion the Cameos - for which I have heard very good reports ... Andy Hallam for helping Bluecoats with powder issue and training up our new musketeers ... Kate and those at Living History for a professional-looking site (and to those who didn't vist, Vytas and I savoured succulent pieces of grilled pork while there!) ... everyone for looking after our new people ... Natasha, Jennie and Terry for their richly-deserved awards (BTW - spoke to the future LG today - you WILL get the proper ones!) ... the 'gentlemen' of the pike for putting up with a three-day battering and still keeping going. At least we saw the back-end of Manchester's on Sunday; hope all thoise who had the knocks, bumps and bruises are recovering ... Kate, Alex and the water carriers.
have I forgotten anyone...?
Roll on 2012, Sam.

I echo the thanks and congratulations already shared. How lucky am I to be friends with such a brilliant bunch of people?
Thanks to Jackie for the party on Saturday, sorry I had to lit out.
A very enjoyable muster, and thanks go to Ruperts. (However, if I can bang our drum a bit - powder issue was entirely staffed by B'Stards while I was there).

An update on the chap who collapsed and was cas-evacced from the site on Monday - Pete Large, an ex-Northamptons chap now with a Regiment in Hopton's Tercio, was taken to the Intensive Care Unit of the local hospital. As of 8.0 am on Tues Aug 30th, he is 'very seriously ill, though stable'. If anyone is closely connected with him and would like to get in touch with his family, I can put you onto Thornton Billinghurst, his Tertio Commander, and he'll do the rest.
