 Latchet Shoes
« Thread Started on May 18, 2009, 12:56am »

I'm looking for advice on where I could buy a good pair of authentic solders latchet shoes at a reasonable price?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tony

'Historic Footwear' latchets are 'straight lasted' so no right or left, quite thick leather and currently on offer at £60.
You could also try 're-enactment shoes' run by Tod from Gordons Regt.I have a pair of his latchets, and find them very comfortable.also £60.

Thanks for the info.

How do I get in touch with Tod from Grodon's? Does he have a website or do you have an e-mail address for him?

Tods website:
http://www.re-enactment-shoes.co.uk/

Historic footwear website:
http://www.historicalfootwear.com/index.htm

Have a look before buying though,to check the fit (as they don't really fit like modern shoes) and to see if you are happy with the thickness of the leather. The Historic Footwear latchets use a thicker leather.
